What is a regenerative economy?
What is an economy?
οἶκος (oîkos) = home or household; the domain of life: dwelling, family, land, community
νέμω (némō) = to manage, to distribute, or to allocate
The root meaning of economy is about managing one’s ‘home’ – the flow of goods and services to the domains of life.
So what happened??
Life on earth is one interdependent system, yet our economies operate as if we are not.
What is a regenerative economy?
A regenerative economy is an economic system rooted in the intelligence of living systems. It is designed to restore and revitalize (therefore sustain) the health of the whole. Only by continually regenerating ecological and social systems, can an economy flourish in perpetuity.
There is no single design for a regenerative economic system; like Nature, we must experiment and learn through a diversity of interoperable, bioregional, and context-specific approaches.
